BACKGROUND:
Danobir R. P Shaha is an institution in himself. He was a founder,
doner and patronizer of lots of hospitals and educational institutions
in the country and abroad. Vast majority of population live in
the rural areas were deprived from health care and education.
In order to provide basic health care delivery system to the poor.
Kumudini Hospital started its journey with 20 beded hospital in
1938 at Mirzapur. Over the years with gradual and systematic process
of development, it has turned in to an imposing prestigious 750
bed hospital in the subcontinent and has been recognized as a
centre of excellence of medical services in the field of Oncology
and Neurosurgery.
Since the abduction of the great man and his only son in 1971,
the hospital passed through many critical period. But uncompromising
spirit, drive leadership and sincerity of the members of KWT,
and with help of the locality, K.H. continued to serve the common
people.
Till now the K.H. is the biggest general hospital in the private
sector, fully equipped 750 bed hospital with Medical, Surgical,
Gynae & Obs, Eye, ENT, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Maternity and
Child health, Tuberculosis, Diarrhoeal Diseases with necessary
diagnostic support and offering round the clock services including
emergency and OPD.
KWT felt the need of motivated, qualified medical personnel missioned
to promote the name and fame and to fulfill the mission of the
founder for which the hospital was established.
Because of its uniqueness and ideal location and glorious background
K.H. having the excellent infrastructural and institutional support
to establish a Medical College. Eventually on the 4th June, 2001
KMC came into being, the long cherished dream of one man R. P.
Shaha came true.
OBJECTIVES:
The main objectives of KMC are to materialize the dream of the
founder of the trust.
Interalia there are following:
(i) to allow a large number of students for availing the opportunity
to become medical
graduates;
(ii) to contribute towards filling in the shortage of doctors
for the country;
(iii) to provide quality education within affordable means;
(iv) to maintain a sustainable standard of education that will
attract students who
eventually will find it a better place for medical education;
(v) to provide more practical knowledge about the basic health
care for the community; and
(vi) to inculcate the spirit of dedication in medical students
so that they devote themselves to the service of the country's
distressed people.

| LOCATION
:
Kumudini Medical College is located in kumudini complex at Mirzapur
of Tangail district, only 60 km north from the capital city, Dhaka,
has regular road and rail communications services. The journey
takes about 1.20 hrs to reach there.

College has ad-equate facilities to teach the students with
its spacious Lecture halls, well equipped laboratories, tutorial
rooms for small group discussion and well spacious dissection
half library, student's common room, canteen, fair price shop
and telephone booth.
It
Includes:
1. Lecture halls - 2 (two) with microphone system, OHP, slide
projector and blackboard.
2. Tutorial rooms - 6 (six) each department has got one or two
rooms.
3. Laboratories - 9 (nine) Histology -1, Physiology -1, Biochemistry
-1, Pharmacology - 2, Pathology -2, Microbiology - 2, Provide
with necessary equipments, microscopes, histology slides, glass
wares and reagents.
4. Dissection Hall - 1 (one) Providing arrangements of dissection
on four cadaver at a time. It has also space for demonstration
of 75 students divided in to three groups in four corners.
5 .Museum - 4 (four) Anatomy -1, Pathology -1, Community Medicine
-1, Forensic Medicine -1 Contains ad-equate numbers of specimen,
chart and models.
